The iconic Laguna Beach “rock house” has plenty of unique features, but no revolving door.
If it did, it would have been spinning around with buyers and sellers lately.
The unconventional home just sold for $7.2 million, from a $7.995 million asking price when it was listed in August. It previously sold for $6.5 million just a year ago, on Nov. 4, 2016.
That’s quite a turnaround compared with its listing history. Before 2016, the home spent several years on and off the market. A $15 million price tag in 2014 was chopped to $9.99 million in 2015 and then dropped to $8.5 million before the November 2016 sale.
The 3,000-square-foot, steel-and-glass “rock house” was built into a boulder on the sand. It was designed a couple of decades ago by Orange County architect Brion Jeannette. The home made international headlines.
This time around, the listing agents were Leo Goldschwartz and Scott Lytle of McMonigle Group Corp. (Goldschwartz is an agent on the show “Real Estate Wars” on Bravo TV, so the unusual home could get a cameo if there’s a season 2.) The buyer’s agent was John Stanaland of HOM Sotheby’s International Realty.
The seller was an investor from Oklahoma. No word yet on who the new buyer is.
